Good Food & Out with Hello Fresh

For the past year I was a Hello Fresh customer until I started to learn more about their anti-union practices and the seriously awful way they treat employees at the processing centres. I immediately cancelled and started to look around for another meal kit company while avoiding Chef’s Plate which is also owned by Hello Fresh.

So I ended up with Good Food, a Canadian company no less which made me feel better. Their menu and sign up choices are a little more confusing but I found the selection to be far more interesting. Better yet you can order fully cooked items, breakfast and more.

As I’m still working from home I’ve been sticking with Hello Fresh. When I do start going back into the office soon I’ll be moving my delivery date to Saturday to see if that works out.

I have never enjoyed cooking a whole lot in my life. Some people thought that Hello Fresh could kindle a love of cooking finally. While they were wrong, I still dislike cooking just as much as before I will admit, Hello Fresh has made it easier. Given the bland, three or four things I would generally cook before it has been a bonus to my life in that department.

It is not perfect, things like the beef portions, lack of any real salad options and sometimes vegetables being of an iffy freshness have been unfortunate. Yet, at least for now while I’m working from home I’ll stick with it. Also, this is yet another excuse to post more food related photos.

I also found out that Hello Fresh and Chef’s Plate are the same company. So if you’re leaving one for the other, it will be very similar.

Hello Fresh adventure

Roughly a month ago I was talked into starting Hello Fresh (a meal prep service) due to my inability to make anything out outside of my usual 2-3 dishes. Thus far I’ve found the weekly selections to always have something that my picky eating habits would enjoy. Regardless, this is not an ad for Hello Fresh but an excuse for me to share photos of some of the dishes I’ve made.
